Ya Shi is a type of oolong tea and is one variety of Phoenix Dancong tea. Despite its unconventional name, which has drawn attention from many young tea enthusiasts, Ya Shi has become a favorite in the tea community. If you've ever heard of peculiar tea names, Ya Shi is likely among the most unique. Originally named "Spring Color Yellow Twig Fragrance," this tea is from Fenghuang Town, with a tree age of over 300 years. The tea is managed by tea farmer.

However, for those who have tasted it, Ya Shi is actually one of the aromatic profiles of Phoenix Dancong tea and is considered one of the precious Ming Cong varieties.

Characteristics of Ya Shi Phoenix Dancong:

To establish a presence in the tea world, each famous tea has its unique charm. Some rely on historical endorsements, some on aesthetics, and others on taste. Only Ya Shi takes a different approach, gaining fame not only for its name but also for its captivating aroma, rich and mellow taste. Authentic Ya Shi Dancong has a unique flavor.

The tea leaves are slightly curled and robust, with a dark brown glossy color. It belongs to the Yellow Twig Fragrance category and exhibits enduring high floral fragrance. The brewed tea has a bright orange-yellow color, a rich and sweet taste, a unique mountainous charm, and a lasting aftertaste.

The aroma of Ya Shi is difficult to describe—it has a deep fragrance when the leaves are dry, and the brewed tea has scents reminiscent of honeysuckle, gardenia flowers, and a hint of honey. The fragrance is elegant, soft, sweet, fresh, rich, and profound, leaving an enchanting experience, as if one is surrounded by the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers, possessing an irresistibly attractive quality.The dry tea leaves are tightly rolled, glossy, and dark brown, while the brewed tea is bright and translucent with a full-bodied flavor. The tea aroma is elegant, and upon closer inspection, the taste is mellow, refreshing, and sweet, with a lingering aftertaste.

Brewing Instructions:

Tea Brewing Container Materials:

(1) White porcelain lidded bowl (allows for clear observation of leaf bottom)

(2) Clay teapot / Yixing purple clay teapot (less likely to scald hands for women)

(3) Glass utensils (visually appealing, great for photography)

Tea Amount:

For a 150ml lidded bowl, it is recommended to use 6-7 grams of tea.

For a 120ml lidded bowl, it is recommended to use 5-6 grams of tea.

(Lighter/Darker taste, adjust +/- 1-2 grams based on the above standards)

Water:

Mineral water > Purified water > Purified tap water

Tea Brewing Method for Ya shi Dancong :

Water for Brewing: It is best to use natural mineral water, followed by purified water or filtered tap water.

Tea Amount: Around 5-8 grams. (Based on the Number of Servings)

Tea ware: Use a lidded bowl or a purple clay teapot, according to personal preference.

Water Temperature: 95-100 degrees Celsius, keep the water continuously boiling, or in a state of warmth.

Steeping Time: The first infusion is a warm-up, essentially rinsing the tea. Pay attention to using boiling water and work quickly; if it takes more than 3 seconds, too many substances are extracted, and this infusion should not be consumed. For infusions 1-10, steep for 0-20 seconds. However, don't be mechanical; appreciate the tea with care.
